John 15:1-8

I am the vine you are branches.

One of the most powerful and freeing revelations I have ever had is I’m a branch.

Jesus tells us that bearing fruit is simply a mater of staying attached to the vine.

Apple trees don’t scream and groan when they are producing fruit, they don’t strain they just do what they are created to do.

Apple trees produce apples Spiriiual people Fruit of the Spirit

There are two issues that we face:

1. Suckers

Little branches that sprout that distract us from our faith

Lies that we believe about ourselves because of what was spoken over us or because of past failures

Lies that our culture tells us we need to focus our attention, image driven. Materialism.

2.  I’m not content to be a branch I want to be the tree.

I want to be in control.

I want to call the shots

I have discovered something: I make a lousy God
